To honour special performances in the SPL  we will regularly post a Team of The Week. The players chosen will be based on the match days of that week (weeks 1 and 2).

TOTW S21 Week 1 & 2

Goalkeeper

Even though losing the final, EQ-Domstie carried his side through the knockouts, ultimately bringing them to a very close final. In only two out of the six games, the German goalkeeper had to get the ball out of his net. In all four other games, he kept his goal clean, earning himself the well-deserved spot in the SPL TOTW.

Centre Backs

Former Champions League and International league winner, EQ-Dum-Dum, is having a strong season in SPL. Conceding only three goals in all Knock-Out matches, of which all three were in the same match against Hooligans Area FC (3-1 loss), the French defender has been rock solid for his side.

Perhaps a bit of an unfortunate name for a German, RoX-TerrorNation is indeed causing terror to the opponent. In eight games he kept three clean sheets and earned himself two MVPs in the matches against DeathRowArmy (1-0 win) and Equality 05 (0-0). It has resulted in a very surprising SPL-winner, RoXoR eSports.

Wingbacks

One of the OG’s in Equality, EQ-Chaozfly has seen and done about everything. He has won prizes and made differences in the most important matches. Unfortunately, he could not win the SPL, but the way he made the difference for Equality 05 this tournament was remarkable. In just six matches he kept four clean sheets, only conceding against Hooligans Area (3-1 loss) and in the finals against RoXoR eSports (2-0 loss).

Matox3-DRA has a rich history of clubs and loads of experience. Using this same experience the German wingback was capable of barely conceding this season and making a huge difference in the SPL knockout stages. Three clean sheets in only four games are statistics every defender would be happy with. 

Central Midfielders

One of the most assisting midfielders in the ProLeague does not play on CAM but on the CM position. H2-Pari has incredible statistics of four-goal preparations in just four games. All four came against the Polish team Provocateurs, two in each game (3-1 win and 4-0) win.

A great hattrick in the 6-0 win over Kone Gaming on the Right Midfield position and a clean sheet on the Central Defensive Midfield position against Core Gaming shows how versatile aLFr3d-DRA can be for DeathRowArmy. It has pulled his side through the knockout stages into the semi-finals, only to lose against RoXoR eSports. The one game aLFr3d-DRA did not play. If he could have gotten them past RoXoR eSports if he would have played will be a question left unanswered.

Being recognised as one of the best CDM’s the ProLeague has to offer, it is no surprise EQ-KingDonM1c can make the difference. In four games the German kept three clean sheets and earned himself an MVP in the 1-0 win over Knallgas, knocking their rivals out of the tournament. It is such a shame he did not play the final.
 

Centre Forwards

How does one stop a striker like CG-Hayvan? Seven goals, an assist and an MVP in just a mere four games, bringing his involvement to a 2 goals per game ratio. Absolutely insane statistics for any player. In the end, it was not enough for the SPL-title, but it made him the top scorer in the knockout phase, leaving other big names as H2-Wirbel and EQ-Mitch behind in the distance.

RoX_b4mbii is the opposite of the Avatar, he is always there when you need him the most. In the final, he scored the decisive goal in the 83rd minute and so he did in the matches against VOLT and Ragnarök FC. It may not have been enough for the top scorer title, but it has given him something much greater: the SPL-title.

Already proven himself in the International League, the previous SPL season and the Champions league, EQ-AzZsX had a tremendous run in the knockout phase of this season’s SPL. In six games he came to three goals and four assists. His matches against Knallgas and Hooligans Area FC were his best. In the first-named one, he assisted the winning goal and in the win over the Turkish side, he assisted twice and scored one of three goals.
